Weald of Kent Labour Local Election Candidates on 2 May

The Weald of Kent Labour Party is pleased to confirm that there will be candidates standing in all our wards in the Local Elections on 2nd May. Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells are both holding all-out elections for new councilors contesting seats that have seen some boundary changes and reductions in the number of wards. Labour is hopeful of making gains in the elections and members have been out campaigning on a series of local action days. In Staplehurst we are supporting our excellent candidates Rory Silkin and Julie Skinner. Both share the experience needed to make a difference for Staplehurst having served previously as Parish and Borough Councillors respectively.
In addition to elections to six wards in Maidstone Borough Council there is one in Tunbridge Borough Council. Both Maidstone and Tonbridge Wells are now under ‘no overall control’ as the Conservatives have consistently lost seats in past elections. The outcome of 2 May will, therefore, be important for residents wanting to improve their council services and an opportunity to send a message to the Tories ahead of the General Election later this year.
There are no local elections for Ashford Borough Council. The whole of the Weald of Kent is involved in the elections for the Police and Crime Commissioner which will also be held on 2 May and where we are supporting Labour’s candidate Lenny Rolles.
